Bio Farma Selects Quantoom Biosciences’ Ntensify® RNA Production Platform to Accelerate Indonesia’s mRNA Vaccine Development

Successful First Production Run Validates High-Quality RNA Output

BANDUNG, Indonesia & NIVELLES, Belgium – September 29, 2026

Bio Farma, Indonesia’s leading state-owned biopharmaceutical company, has selected Quantoom Biosciences’ Ntensify® RNA production platform to support the development of its mRNA vaccine programs. This strategic collaboration marks a significant milestone in strengthening Indonesia’s domestic capabilities in next-generation vaccine technologies.

As part of the technology onboarding, Bio Farma and Quantoom Biosciences announce completion of a first RNA production run, leveraging the Ntensify® midi system in Bandung, from a Rabies linearized DNA template provided by Quantoom. The run, conducted jointly by Bio Farma’s technical team and a Quantoom Field Application Specialist, successfully validated the system’s ability to generate high-quality RNA, confirming its readiness for future development activities.

According to the run report, the batch exceeded the predefined acceptance criteria, achieving a final drug-substance RNA concentration of 2.03 mg/mL after purification and filtration, with an RNA integrity level consistent with expectations. These results demonstrate the performance and robustness of the Ntensify® midi system at the 200 mL IVT scale.

The installation of the RNA production platform at Bio Farma’s facilities was supported in part by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) through its partnership with Bio Farma to strengthen rapid-response vaccine manufacturing capacity in the Global South.

By leveraging Bio Farma’s growing expertise in mRNA vaccine development—supported through the WHO/MPP mRNA Technology Transfer Programme—together with Quantoom’s advanced RNA production platforms, the collaboration contributes to building a more distributed, flexible, and resilient global vaccine manufacturing ecosystem. This effort aligns with key global health priorities, including the 100 Days Mission, an initiative led by CEPI and endorsed by the G7 and G20, which aims to significantly shorten vaccine development timelines to approximately 100 days for emerging epidemic or pandemic threats.

“CEPI is proud to support efforts to strengthen RNA manufacturing capabilities at Bio Farma through its partnership with the company, helping to advance rapid-response vaccine development in the Global South. This important milestone demonstrates the value of investing in regional manufacturing capabilities and will help strengthen preparedness to respond quickly to future epidemic and pandemic threats, supporting the goals of the 100 Days Mission.” said Amadou Sall, Executive Director Process Development and Manufacturing, CEPI.

“The completion of this first RNA production run marks an important milestone in Bio Farma’s journey to strengthen Indonesia’s capabilities in next-generation vaccine technologies. Through our collaboration with Quantoom Biosciences, we are advancing our readiness in mRNA vaccine development and manufacturing, while contributing to broader efforts to build a more resilient and equitable global health ecosystem. This collaboration reflects Bio Farma’s commitment to innovation, long-term capacity building, and support for future pandemic preparedness,” said Shadiq Akasya, President Director of Bio Farma.

“What is particularly impressive about Bio Farma is the vision and commitment it has shown in building Indonesia’s capabilities in biologics manufacturing. This collaboration with Quantoom builds on that foundation, bringing together complementary expertise to help strengthen sustainable production capacity for Indonesia and the wider region, while investing in the skills and knowledge needed to support long-term innovation. That is exactly what the mRNA Technology Transfer Program was established to do,” said Charles Gore, Executive Director, Medicines Patent Pool.

“We are honored that Bio Farma has chosen the Ntensify platform to advance Indonesia’s next-generation vaccine programs,” said José Castillo, CEO of Quantoom Biosciences. “The excellent performance of the first production run reflects both the robustness of our technology and the strong technical capabilities of Bio Farma’s team. This collaboration reinforces our shared commitment to expanding global access to high-quality, scalable mRNA manufacturing.”
